Kelly's Lengthy Road to Maxing!

Hi there!

My name online alias is Kelly (looooooong story), but my first name is Olivia. I'd prefer if you call me Liv or Kelly, as Olivia sounds like I'm in trouble haha! My wonderful fiancee (almost wife, hooyah!) and I have two dogs (a 7 year old beagle-foxhound mix named Bailey and a 13 year old dachshund named Spencer) and two bearded dragons named Salt and Pepper. I'm not really sure what else to say about myself, haha. Ask away if you want!

I've been playing OSRS off and on (more on than off, admittedly) since about 2005. In all that time one thing I haven't accomplished is maxing out! Pre-EOC I only had 5-6 skills left to hit 99 in before maxing, but then RS3 came out and that derailed my interest completely. However, when they released OSRS, I made an account that day! Starting over from scratch sucked, but as I've grown the account and my levels, I've to appreciate it tenfold! Hopefully I can reach my aspirations of maxing out and owning that sexy max cape one day

99 Magic

I've been doing this by plank making mahogany logs. In an effort to be a little more self sufficient, I obtained an okay amount of these logs through Throne of Misc and ended up runecrafting a solid chunk of the Natures and Astrals I'm using. I have the logs/runes for this banked. I've been trudging through this one slowly as it's great after a long day when I don't have the brainpower to focus on the game hard core.

99 Herblore

Doing a mix of Stam potions and Anti-Venom+ for this. I know it's a hefty loss either way, but given I'm closing in on 99, I might just eat the loss and go all in for it!

99 Thieving

I was thieving Ardy Knights for this, but recently a clanie suggested thieving elves as there's a chance at good money from it, so I'm going to give that a shot when I grind this out next!

99 Fletching

Making Ameythst Darts

99 Cooking

Cooking sharks for this - presently believe they're profitable, too

95 Firemaking

Through Wintertodt!

92 Mining

Not entirely sure... Probably Motherlode Mine most of it since that's extremely AFK

90 Woodcutting

Considering doing Blisterwoods for these even if it isn't the most effective method; it's still mostly afk so I can do it when I'm done work and dead tired

80 Agility

Looking forward to giving the Priff course a go, see if I can do that to 80 and then keep upping the level ante!

Heya Kelly, welcome to the wonder of Progression Threads, hope it motivates you as much as it has done for others(and me)

You are definitely in a good place to aim for Max, your stats are fabulous xD
I like the self sufficient approach you are taking with magic, gives some variety for the grind

For the Woodcutting, coming from someone who is also aiming for 90, Sulliceps is a really chill method + you get fossils for the completion of Varrock Museum Basement + XP Lamps

But good goal, I hope you complete it

On that note, consider checking out #Race-to-max in our Discord, you can sign up and compete with others that is around your lvl and also wants to max, may help you with motivation on the dry days

Thanks Purple! I'm hoping it will keep me on track with the things that I'd like to accomplish. Given how far off I am from maxing -- how many things there are still left to knock out -- it can occasionally be easy to flail helplessly, lol

I've heard that Sulliceps is pretty chill for sure. I'll have to watch a video and figure it out. I was also thinking of doing Blisterwoods too as they're very afk. Granted not as much XP, but it's sorta like motherlode mining -- sacrifice some of the xp for an even more AFK method

I've been swapping between skills because of the skilling competition. I'm actually going to be a little lost when this competition officially comes to a close.

I've been contemplating which order to do these 99's in.. I have supplies to get 99 Magic, Herblore, Fletching, and Cooking. I'll also be gunning for 99 Thieving since I'm so close (level 96 now). Probably also Firemaking since Wintertodt is pretty fun in short spurts and quick XP

What would you suggest?

Yeah, it was the best at the time. Is it not anymore? I had full mines & half mahogany logs. I will admit it's been awhile since I tweaked it or looked at pricing

Honestly don't know, I have mine on trees at all times for non-gp reasons.

Originally I started it for the mahagony logs for plank making, but wanted to ensure I was also recouping some of the money I was putting into it. That said, I looked up the profitable method and it turned out (at the time--again, it's been awhile, haha) having full mining was the best gp method and it was a tie between mahogany logs for secondary and I think herblore(?). I should re-research just to be on the safe side when I get a chance I'm curious now

Thanks Ashley! Thinking of getting 99 Herby and then do Herbiboar for as long as I can stand to get some Hunter levels. At least get to 80 with it (I'll be boosting using Hunter pots--huge gp waste, but it's a funner method than alternatives!). Speaking of Hunter levels.. I was like 12k off a level so I figured I'd give Herbiboar a shot just to see the mechanics and all that jazz, so got 78 Hunter

I'm sorry but I just noticed you've been training cooking in the Hosidius pub. Do you not have access to the Hosidius kitchen? It has a bank chest 4 steps from a range, and it has a passive effect that reduces burn rate.

I thought the shots were weird, and then I remembered I have previously helped a cc member with the exact same situation.

Update time!

I've been gunning to try to get base 80 stats, thereby knocking out 80 Fishing, 80 Hunter, and 80 Runecrafting. The only stat I have now that's not 80+ is my 77 Agility. I'm going to put that on the back burner for a few moments, as I'm one level away from 2,100 total!



I'm also one level away from 99 Herblore! That said, I'm going to get 99 Herblore and 2,100 total together Then I need to figure out what's next for me in-game. Obviously I'll knock out those last three Agility levels to give me base 80 stats, but I'm not sure what I'll do per se. I know that I'll likely do a lot of Zulrah (and Vork once I finally get DS2 finished!) to try to recoup money through and maybe get a pet Getting a pet isn't necessarily a goal of mine, but I would love for my one lonesome Thieving pet to not be so lonely!
