Greetings and regards <3
Greetings, fellow scapers, gamers & comrades of OSRS Advice
My in-game name is Night Fears and my IRL name is Rokas. I prefer they/them pronouns, but I also don't mind going with other ones, too. I'm from Eastern Europe and my first encounter with RuneScape began back in 2010, back when most of my primary school friends were online, eager to advance their combat levels. While most of the eagerness of my IRL friends waned away over couple of years and the vision of the game began to drastically shift (EOC, new interfaces, etc.), I remained dedicated to the RS2/RS3 version of the game despite it all, for the following 6 years, until 2016.
I made plenty of online-only friends, most notably from my persistent engagement with the offsite RS3 wiki (formerly known as simply the RS Wiki), as well as my membership in the "RSW" clan (on RS2/RS3), of which I still am part, now marking my 9th year. Though I haven't done my return to RS3 since 2016 and I doubt I ever will (well... who knows?), mostly because I feel I'm satisfied with my already existing achievements: I used to be in ownership of both Max cape and the untrimmed Completionist cape before new skills and content was introduced; I have trained my Farming up to level 120, and my Dungeoneering up to 200M xp. And for all those past moments, it was an arduous and fun time I spent along and through.
Subsequent to year 2016, I went on an indefinite hiatus of my gaming, mostly because I started studying Philosophy and didn't have enough time to be online. Another thing was my own growing dissatisfaction of the quality of RS3 gameplay/community, it just didn't seem to be the same it used to be...
Now, back when the quarantine started in many parts of the globe and all physical meetings were no longer feasible, I decided to give Oldschool a try. To my surprise, Oldschool felt both nostalgic and refreshing, and it still feels like this to this day for me. Of course, my interest and engagement is not longer maximalist and endgame -- significantly lesser than it used to be back in the days, I hold no aspirations to achieve all 99s once again, though I might slowly work my way to complete all achievement diaries and get a Quest cape. One day, perhaps... These are the prospects of my current gameplay on Oldschool.
Anyhow, concerning OSRS Advice, I've discovered this clan back in 2020 spring through Oldschool forums and I've been guesting the clan chat all the time, whenever I get to be online. That's 1 year and a bit -- so, I reckon, my name may, perhaps, appear familar to some. I've been enjoying the good company and the hospitable environment of the clan! And, since the new clan update rolled out, I thought, it would be fitting to go further, introduce myself to the offsite forum and, perhaps, even request for an invite to the clan. Since I feel like sticking to OSRS Advice, as long as I'll continue playing Oldschool. =)
Cheers!!!

I do recognize you! That's crazy that you've been hanging around that long, that's serious commitment to the clan already.
Hey man I don't blame you for not setting your goals on maxing, considering you've already done that and more on rs3. But little goals are fun too

Hey Rokas! Warm regards I appreciate the thorough intro. It's funny how Runescape, whether RS3 or OSRS tends to stay a decent part of our lives when we got into it at a young age. @Kanagawa and I are close friends in real life and RS has always been one bond that we share. I love your offsite signature btw Anyway, welcome to this wonderful community, if you have any questions about the clan or the game itself (it's changed quite a bit since the old days) don't hesitate to ask the cc.
Cheers!

Hey Rokas, welcome to the clan.
I also love to learn more about Philosophy, but sadly I only have time to learn one of them. Kinda want to get back into it though, just don't have the motivation these days.
I'm probably not knowledgeable about most of philosophies but I like reading/listening about them through either books/podcasts/videos etc...
Only thing that helped me get motivated to learn about them is because of Stoicism which I heard first about 6 years ago I think?
Still reading the daily stoic tho till this day.

Absolute honker of an intro you've got there, haha. Glad to finally have you on here Night! And yeah, can't say I exactly blame you for dialing back the max goals. That's a tall order for most people I've met, and most of them aren't even doing it for the second time
Philosophy is cool! Never put much stock in it back when I was still a moody teenager (surprisingly, lol), but I've got some friends that ended up being very taken with it and it's made me reconsider in recent years. One of those things I'd probably have a crack at formally studying if I had both infinite time and money.
See you around
