Optus's reality checks and goals. [14th AUG UPDATE]
Hi all,
You may have seen me in the cc here and there. I mainly tend to be a very private person doing my own thing but I do pop into the cc sometimes for some conversations. In my introduction post I set myself a bunch of long-term goals coming back into this game after a 6 year hiatus. Those being;
1) Get all my combat stats above 90 to fully convert this into a main.
2) Elite diaries
3) Learn raids
4)Do Inferno Learn to fly through the sheer force of my sexual intensity.
--
I feel like it's about time I made a little update on my progress. This is primarily for myself or for anyone looking for the appropriate motivation to do something.
1) All of my combat stats except prayer are above 90 at this given time and I have successfully converted this account into a main. I am currently sitting at 94 ATK / 99 STR / 91 DEF / 82 PRAY / 96 RANGE / 99 MAGE.
2) This has been something that I'm slowly working on, I'm not the sort of person that like grinding skilling so it is tough for me to keep concentration on something like that. That being said, I have completed the Fremmenik Elite Diaries as well as the Lumbridge and Draynor elite diaries.
14th AUG 2020 UPDATE: 85 Prayer was reached. 90 Fletching was reached (boost 95), and 92 cooking was reached. Bit higher than required but I've been afking as I work from home. I might get some levels over the boosting threshold so that I don't always have to grind for a +5 boost and in the very long run it will help in maxing the account at some point. Adjusted image to showcase.
The ticks signify skills that I have reached a certain level that I can either complete the task outright or boost to complete it. Absolutely not looking forward to the RC grind.
3) I have successfully learnt CoX, I'm currently sitting on around 65 KC with one CM Kc. Still haven't taken steps to learn ToB even though I have all of the necessary gear to do so, since I'm devoting way too much time into my next goal.
4) This initially started as a joke. I've watched videos and seen streamers. I've heard the rumors. I thought I'll never even attempt Inferno. I am around 30 attempts in with an ACB and I have gotten to Zuk three times so far. I feel like I have definitely have made so much progress in such little time. I am extremely comfortable until wave 35 but pretty much all of the recent deaths have been in the high 50s. I am determined to complete this without a Tbow purely for the sense of that extra accomplishment. I honestly feel so much more developed as a PvMer doing this, I have learnt so much about 1tick flicking, pathing and positioning that I have no idea how I played this game without this knowledge. I feel like one of these days, I'll hit a lucky run.
That's it from me for the moment.
Cheers.

Hey Optus,
I remember posting on your intro back when you joined. It's always great to see when people have been making progress on their account but especially nice to see that the goals you set for yourself when you first joined have had real progress being made against them.
Have you had any luck with purples in your COX runs? Any in your name too?
All the best with the Inferno grind, it's definitely the toughest solo task in the game and conquering it is a huge deal but I have no doubts you'll get there eventually. Cannot wait to see you repping that spicy lava cape in-game as and when you smash Zuk down to 0 HP
Keep up the awesome work dude!!

Yes! Couple of drops so far;
Elder Maul trio split, DHCB duo split, Anc robe top duo split.
Only the Anc robe top has been in my name so far. Mostly doing duoing these days with a mate of mine.
No doubts, Max melee soon.

Hey man,
Always love to see more peeps creating threads on here!
I had no idea you were able to make it so far on the Inferno, especially with an ACB. That's gonna be my weapon of choice as well if and whenever I try for the cape - maybe many many months from now =p.
Nice doing on completing the fremmy and lummy elite diaries. The lummy/draynor is definitely one of the more rewarding ones to complete overall.
Sick work man, looking forward to seeing what's next to check off the list!

Great progress so far, Diaries are an excellent goal.
Also good to know you've made solid progress on the inferno, that's a tremendous pvm challenge I've yet to attempt.

At this point I am wholly convinced that the Inferno is more of a mental challenge rather than anything else. I nearly got the magical run in my 31st attempt today. But died to being too jumpy at an aoe from Zuk's healers and panick clicking one tile too many and getting hit for a 79 through Zuk. ACB is completely and I mean completely viable to someone who has never completed the Inferno (i.e. me) but the true disadvantage is lack of dps = more times that you have to simply concentrate harder or get lucky.
I am relatively certain, at this rate, Inferno will be ticked off before learning ToB.
Cheers.

I honestly feel like the stigma and the dreaded rumours and the abundance of people who have gotten banned for "buying capes" because it was too hard has left a very daunting shroud around it discouraging people from actually attempting it. If you have the stats and the bank, try it a couple of times. It is the most stimulating thing I have ever done in Runescape and once you have a solid grasp on the waves, things maybe really tough but it's very unlikely that they are downright unfair. That being said, I still wipe on high 50s more times than I care to admit.
Good luck on your journey to the cape once you start it as well!
Cheers.

Very nice on the purple front! I've only got a KC of 6 at COX (3 masses and 3 normal sized ones) and have seen an Ancestral Robe Top (we split that 5 ways IIRC) and then a Twisted Buckler (the wrong Twisted item haha) in a mass of like 40 people so we didn't bother splitting that!
Look forward to seeing any screenshots of your max melee achievements or even being there for the celebration if you end up having one and I'm online
Take care bud
