Hi everyone! An IRL friend introduced me to the clan CC. Just trying to un-n00b myself and make some friends in the process and wanted to say hello. Name is "Lucid Noodle" in game.

I've had this same account for the last 15 years but stopped playing because I wasn't the biggest fan of Rs3 and what the game became. Started back up from the bottom on OSRS about 2 weeks ago. Thanks for having me! Like a Star @ heaven Very Happy Like a Star @ heaven

Heya Noodle, appreciate the introduction. Is your IRL friend a current CC member? Don't have to say, of course, but it'd be points in their favour to know if they're actively recruiting people Smile

What's your account looking like at the moment? Got any specific goals, or are you still just kinda relearning the game? Two weeks isn't a huge amount of time, but with all the guides and such floating around you can make some pretty amazing progress in a short period if you play fairly efficiently. Not always the fun way to play, though. It's something I often shy away from for that reason, but it's hard to argue with progress.

Feel free to check us out on Discord if you haven't already, btw. Certainly not required, but I think most people that join end up rather enjoying it. All the info for our ongoing/periodic events gets posted on there (both PVM and skilling, so there's something for everyone). It's also a great way to socialize. Plenty of us hang out in voice chat on a near daily basis. It's definitely done a lot to bring the clan closer together, if you ask me.

Either way, looking forward to seeing you in-game. Don't forget to hit up the CC if you need any help!

My account is looking pretty rough at the moment, but I did manage to finish at least all the ftp quests, and a few of the easier members ones. I also got to 70 mage, and am working on 70 range (currently at 68). Other combat skills are in the 40's and 50's. Most skills are very low level, some I haven't even started or are only leveled through questing. I plan on changing this over time but decided to focus on combat first this time around. My old pre-RS3 account back in 2007 was mostly skiller so I just wanted to try something a little new Smile

That sounds like a lot of fun! I'll definitely have to check it out.

Thank you! I'm very glad to be back. Smile I'll definitely be hitting you up about skilling. I've been working from home due to Covid which puts me in a unique position to work on skills 10 hours a day or more, with the catch that they be mostly AFK while I'm working (not trying to lose my job and need to be mostly focused on that lol!). I managed to splash and alch my way to 70 mage pretty quickly, now working on range at sand crabs. After that, I'm thinking I could probably work on woodcutting and then fletch the logs when I'm off the clock. Have any thoughts? What do you think is the most AFKable skill?

I obviously do like to play the game and be present when I'm able to! But I don't like to waste the other time I'm sitting at the computer anyway. XP waste is a sin lol.

Oh, nice! Was there when Lush got 99 Strength earlier today. Good guy FeelsOkayMan

And hey, we all start somewhere. Finishing all of the F2P quests early on is actually something a lot of players don't do. I've known people to put some of them off until like 2k total level, haha. Sounds to me like you've made excellent progress so far!

You interested in getting into bossing at all, once your stats are closer to where they need to be? We've got plenty of opportunities for newer players to get into PVM, actually. Got a weekly mass event that happens every Saturday (your stats don't matter much here, truthfully, so don't be intimidated), and lots of folks are more than willing to help out learners, provided they're willing to listen, haha.

As for AFK skilling, woodcutting is a pretty good choice. Yews and Magics are especially good, once you reach the required level. Fletching is also decent if you cut bows. Did a ton of that when I was going for 99. Fishing gets pretty good once you're able to do monkfish and karambwans. Those are just a couple options that spring to mind, although your levels might be a bit of a barrier as things stand (haven't looked you up yet). Kana's probably got some good suggestions for you, though! He's the expert here Smile

Heck yeah! Lush is awesome. Totally a good guy.

I'll for sure be interested in PvM at some point. I have a long way to go, and will probably knock out a few more quests and beef up the combat some more before I'll feel ready. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do to help get me there? Such as, which quests to focus on first, or some good base level combat stats to start me off? Armor? Armor is one area I feel I am lost in. It was something that didn't concern me much before, and now new things have been added too.

As far as skilling I had a feeling WC and Fletch might be the best way to go for AFKability. They were my first 99's on the account before, and I honestly really enjoyed getting them.

Hey Noodle!

Good to see that you are giving OSRS a go! Welcome to the clan mate - there will be many clannies around to help you if you ever need anything - we are a pretty chill bunch Razz

As far as some quests you've asked to get you started on combat - I would recommend Waterfall quest because it will get you to like level 1-30 attack and strength. A good early/mid game goal would be to complete monkey madness part 1.

Hope to see you in game mate!

@LucidNoodle as Tinnitus said, Waterfall Quest is a great idea if you're looking for some quick combat XP. The Grand Tree, Tree Gnome Village and Fight Arena also offer quite a bit. May be worth checking out the Optimal Quest Guide if you haven't done so already. Great resource for when you're stuck figuring out what to do next.

As for armour, that's a little trickier, as what gear is available to/feasible for a given person to obtain can change pretty drastically depending on where they are with regards to account progression. You're welcome to message me and I can outline things a bit better for you, if you like. The Helm of neitiznot and the dragon defender are cheap and free upgrades respectively, and both pretty much necessary for anyone looking to train their melee stats. I'd also encourage you to get a Fighter torso as soon as possible. Best chest slot strength bonus in the game, tied with the Bandos Chestplate (which costs around 20m), and you can get it for free by playing the Barbarian Assault minigame with a group. I'm sure plenty of clannies would be happy to help you get one sometime, if you're keen Smile

Probably lots of stuff that I'm forgetting, but as I said, feel free to hit me up some time and I'll try to go into a bit more detail.

Hi Noodle! Like you, I've been playing RuneScape for quite a while - since 2006, so 14 years for me. I also played RS3 for years and started playing OSRS around the time it was released on mobile. I find myself really enjoying OSRS for its simplicity and for the nostalgia. It's been fun re-learning the game and learning the new content.

I see that fishing was already mentioned as an afk skill but wanted to comment that cooking fits in nicely with that since you cook afk cook everything that you afk fish.

It seems like you've progressed quite nicely in the two weeks you've been playing. Smile
