Is Being Rich All That? Whats your story.

I only post this topic as a nice topic bored on my personal experience with wealth

Back in 2018 I was bossing like mad on my main. Consume Life.
I already had been 90 def 99 range rigour/e void/quest cape,/h Ballista pker. ( got bored after 2 yrs pking and 650m profit in week off rigour realise ) I stayed pking awhile until they nerfed void and then I decided to max my account throw slayer

I achieved 93 slayer. 99 attack 99 strength 98 defence, and done tons off bossing like I mentioned erlyer
I got into the habit off earning 20m via bossing /slayer then staking it with tent. and sometimes id get cleaned 5x in row
and sometimes id get between 140-500m bank. I got used to it. so my end goals kind of got foggy, since I was always bossing/staking

But..#

one session I went with 218m cash.. (5 days later ) using mandolin staking method I found on YouTube. I had 3.8b cash

SOOO…

I brought spiritsshield set. Tbow. max Melee. max range etc....

I was fully kitted on good level account

I ended up going back to bossing and stuff / no raids since I was on mobile at the time

in the end I just got soo bored. ( was it because I won the money? EASY?) I brought averic def also.

I ended up just going back to the duel,. even know I had billions I was just so bored and addicted to the rush off wining and staking.
I had no goal in mind like 4b - 5b etc.. I just found the rest off game so unsatisfying whilst having billions.
and normal 3-10m drops id normally like just seemed meh. in the end I wanted to quit I was so bored.

I decided I'm going to quit osrs at that point. and just yolo my cash. keep going see what happens..

well I got cleaned within like 5 stakes. and stopped playing for a big period off time.

I had been cleaned for 500-700-200 etc b4 in the past plenty off times.. but I felt the same each time = major depression for awhile or total relief from a toxic circle.

the most fun I ever had was when I was a range tank pking.

I now only play ironmen mostly. and try to find a challenging build since, I now don't really like my main much since the past.

has anyone gone throw similar experience like me. would be nice to know your story. thankyou for reading

i completely understand this i used to buy and sell bonds back in the day and just bought supplies and gear then i got completely bored on main although not max i had base 70-80s i found the game 2 easy just buyin stuff so i decided to make a ironman account but i also found it 2 easy so i made an ultimate iron man getting and earning every drop really brings back life 2 the game an a huge " NOSTALGIA " effect to it .

Staking ruins the game, whether you win a bunch of money or lose it all. Doing mundane activities for a few mil an hour suddenly becomes unbearable when you can just win 100m in a few minutes. Avoid the duel arena and make money yourself, and the rewards will be much sweeter

Wealth in this game is all subjective in relation to your levels.

I've often pondered exactly why this game is so good, but when I do any serious thinking on the matter, I'm always led back to the same answer:

Progression in Oldschool Runescape between the various levels of your skills is one of the best gearing progression system in any video game. Period.

There is just something so succinct in how you come into ownership of literally any gear or any materials in the game. I didn't realize the extent of this until I started playing an IM account, but it's honestly genius. When you coast through the content and actually try your best to road-map and integrate your skills together with one another, you are never left feeling like you didn't EARN what you have.

But that isn't to say that OSRS has everything down perfect. They clearly don't. But the things they have right are GREAT.

Income in the game is completely relative to what your character's capabilities are. The skill factor plays a large part in a lot of things (Looking at Fire Cape, Bossing, and to some extent, the harder quests in the game such as Grandmasters).

I don't consider someone with a 3b bank to be necessarily "rich" if they came into it at the Sand Casino. What I consider to be "rich" in this game would be having more income on your account than you need in your current situation. If a guy has 3b on a total level 1200 acct, they have a LOT of work to do to get their skills where they need to be in order to sustain a viable income. That 3b will shrink drastically and rapidly.

Now, someone who EARNED a bank of 3b probably has a skillset to show for it. They may be Maxed. But with that comes the skills and experience of all of the game's content. Your value in Runescape isn't measured in GP at the bank, but rather the knowledge of the game you have and what your skillset will allow you to accomplish.

But that's my take on it. I love how progression works in this game and GP isn't the only wealth it holds.

While I strive for "wealth" in my own standards, I also don't like it as it paints a target on your account. I've heard too many times of friends getting tbow and other items on their account only to be hacked and lose everything. I don't know the circumstances behind it, but it's not something I look forward to..

Do I want a tbow and to feel "rich"? Absolutely, but I find the game more fun when building from nothing. I also feel safer with less too.
