Very late to this party, but if you're into some gritty rock this new band Des Rocs is freakin' wild! Saw them as an opening act for the Struts a few months back and have been hooked since.

Recommend Dead Ringer and Give Me the Night most of all!

If you want some more laid-back synth-y stuff, I can't recommend TWRP enough. One of my favourite bands of all time. Synthesize Her, The No-Pants Dance, and All Night Forever are all happy, funky, wacky times.
