EDIT: This is for Google Chrome. Please google "custom search engine [your browser]" if you don't use it. Sorry!

Currently Google still sends you to the old Wiki when searching something (like "opal bracelet osrs") instead of the new one. This frustrated me enough to the point I made a custom search engine, which should not take more than 3 minutes and can be done for any site with a search function.

I'll try to explain the concepts of this as good as my knowledge and English allows me to.

The main use for a custom search engine is to assign a letter or word to a site. Once assigned, you will be able to just type in your URL bar the letter/word you assigned, press tab, and then whatever you would like to search. I think it will be better explained once you get to the steps.

Speaking of which, these are the steps to do this:

1) Right click your URL bar. Then, click on the "Edit search engines" button.

2) Clicn on the "add" button on the "Other search engines" section:

3) Now you will see 3 fields:

Search Engine: The title for your search engine. Can be whatever you like and won't matter too much.

Keyword: This is the word or character for when you search in the URL bar. Since mine is set to "o", when I go to my URL bar and type the "o" keyword (with no quotes) and press tab, I will be able to search on the new wiki.
You can set this keyword to "osrs", "wiki", "oswiki", "o" or even "jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj" should you wish to do so. It's completely up to you, though I'd use "o" or "osrs" for convenience.

URL with %s in place of query: Copy paste this into it: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/%s this should always be set to this, else it won't work.

Now you can save it!

If you followed the steps, the next time you open a new tab and type your desired keyword then press the "tab" key, you will be able to search anything on the wiki. (Tip: You can also use short words if the wiki redirects to the actual page. For example, I could do "o" -> "tab" -> type "Dt" > get redirected to the "Desert Treasure" page of the new wiki).

I know I could have made this guide way shorter, but I wanted to make it as clear as possible (and also I was finishing my graceful grind so I was bored.)

I'm not a native speaker, so if something is not clear enough, please let me know and I'll edit it.

Have fun!

This is awesome!

If you're lazy like me though, I'd totally recommend the Wiki Redirect Extension found here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/rs-wiki-redirector/pcbjeffbdbcicmgffkdbpllfenfbodfo

Any time you go to the old wiki it automatically redirects you to the new one. Smile
