Hello Everyone!
I'm Arasix and I started playing Runescape back in 2006 when I was around 8 years old. I quit the game around the time dungeoneering was introduced and haven’t played since. During that time I played other games (COD, FIFA, NBA2k, CSGO, Valorant, etc.), graduated high school and have completed 4 years of university (have one more year left).
I’m 22 now and have had a bit of free time and decided to come back to the game about a month ago. The game has changed so much…everyone is more focused on efficiency nowadays. The goal for my account is to be fully maxed and do bossing and raids, but I have a long way to go and still need to learn a lot of things. But for now, I am aiming to hit 99 magic (my first 99 on this account) either today or tomorrow, then do a bunch of questing and after that get my fire cape.
The clan chat has been very welcoming and I’m looking forward to meeting you all!

Re: Hello Everyone!
Hey Arasix, welcome to the offsite. Always happy to greet another Canadian clannie I'm from British Columbia myself. What are you in university for, if you don't mind me asking?
People are definitely more focused on getting things done quickly these days. Largely due to how easily accessible most game knowledge is now, and probably our fully developed adult brains as well Always had a ton of fun playing as a kid, but the last thing on my mind was doing things optimally. Not exactly the best mindset to maintain if you're trying to max like in your case though, haha. Early congrats on 99 Mage by the way. Extremely useful, although one I've still yet to pick up. Cool cape too.
Best of luck with your questing and fire cape grind. Both necessary steps to take if you're looking to get PvM ready. Viku has a great Fight Caves Guide here on our site actually, if you want to give it a look. Seemed pretty helpful to me! Happy to help ease your way into some bossing down the road btw, if you like. Always happy to try new content with people.
Be sure to check out our Discord if you're looking to get a little more involved. It's great as a social platform, and it's got all of our event info and such on it as well.
See you

Re: Hello Everyone!
Hey Arasix,
Seen you in the chat a few times - great to see you decided to sign up and post an intro here! You started playing RS when you were 8 years old? Dang dude, you might have just beat me! Think I was around 9 or so when I started. Pretty crazy to think about how the years have past and yet we still managed to come back to RS. I personally kept playing when Dungeoneering was released. I enjoyed it, but quit shortly after the release of EoC - and finally came back after Old School was released.
I graduated from Uni (undergrad) a little or so ago, and will be starting my 2nd year of grad school in the fall. This past semester has been pretty hectic and definitely will be one to remember. Haven't had much normalcy yet, but I'm sure everything will work out. I bet this whole COVID situation has been quite an experience/adjustment to your coursework as well.
I personally am not a super efficient player. I consider myself semi-efficient, lol. I would like to max my account too, but don't see that happening for a few years. I use our clan's skill of the week competition to motivate me to train skills I normally don't enjoy. In fact, we have one starting soon - there's a thread up here on the forums about it if you're interested!
Awesome to hear that you are about to hit 99 magic. Post in the clan chat when you are about to get it (if you want!), and I'm sure many clannies would pop around to see it
Catch you in game!

Hey Syallabic,
I'm from Ontario and I'm studying medicine at university in the United Kingdom.
Thank you for the early congratulations and for the resources. I'll be sure to check out the fight caves guide because I'll be needing it. I have no idea how to fight Jad to be honest.
Yeah when I was younger I just played for fun with my friends from school, efficiency was the last thing on my mind lol.
I've also just joined the discord.

Re: Hello Everyone!
Hey Tinnitus,
Yeah my friends, about 8 of us started playing in third grade. I quit when dungeoneering was released because all my friends switched to console gaming and also my account got hacked so it was quite discouraging. I never knew OSRS existed until about a month and a half ago and I decided to give it a shot when I got bored of Valorant. A lot of people I played with back in the day quit when EoC was released also. I'm glad they made OSRS. It brought back so many memories of when I was a kid.
What undergraduate course did you complete and what are you studying in grad school? If you don't mind me asking. It was quite hectic for me as well, as I am an international student in the UK, I had to go back home to Canada when universities decided to close. The whole COVID situation is very irritating to be honest, but I am quite fortunate for the way its being handled in Canada. It also gives me an excuse to stay at home and play Runsescape lol.
I also haven't been playing that efficiently, as I haven't played Runescape in over 10-12 years but I'm learning new ways to improve everyday. It will take me a few years to max my account as well but hopefully we can do it. I'll be sure to check out the skill of the week competition and hopefully it can be a means of training the skills I find to be boring.
I'll see you around.

Always hurts to hear about getting hacked, even if it was years ago. That would be super demotivating to me, honestly. Not sure what I would do after that. Thankfully some more security measures have been implemented like 2 factor authentication and Jagex did mention an even more secure "back up code" to cancel authenticator (can be set to only disable your authenticator that way) may be implemented sometime this year. I'd say the more security measures we can use, the better.
I've been lucky to have a few IRL friends that have always played runescape with me. We pretty much all quit at the same time, and got back on once OSRS was released. I agree, memories have abosolutely been made and brought back with the release of OSRS. Some things have changed, but I feel most updates to the game have been done in best interest of the player-base.
My undergraduate degree was in Hearing Sciences, and my graduate degree that I am pursuing is an AuD degree (Doctorate of Audiology). It's a pretty small field, but I'm happy I found it. It's a good fit for me. I definitely love the freedom COVID has given me in terms of play time - I know for a fact I wouldn't have progressed as much as I have these past few months without it. But it does suck, our clinical rotations have been put on hold. I'm excited for that to start back up again (hopefully within the next month or two, fingers crossed). You said you were studying medicine, right? Cool man, what area/field are you interested in pursuing? You definitely got a lot of options there.
You as well bud!

Welcome to the clan Arasix!
I saw you hit 99 magic on disc congrats on that! I recently just hit 99 magic a couple weeks ago and it was also my first 99. That untrimmed mage cape looks clean. When you get into bossing i'm big on the wildly bossing so if you're ever interested let me know. There's tons of gp to be made out there

Re: Hello Everyone!
Hi Arasix,
Like you, I started playing RuneScape in 2006 though I was much older than 8. I started playing to "check out the game" before my children (now adults) played and enjoyed it so much that I've played off and on since then.
I'm definitely not an efficiency type player but instead I take my time and just play for fun.
Congratulations on your 99 magic!
